Senior hero Nandamuri Balakrishna is riding high with consecutive hits like Akhanda.. Veerasimha Reddy.. Bhagwant Kesari.. On the other hand, director Bobby Kolli scored a blockbuster with 'Waltheru Veeraiya'. Huge expectations are on 'Daku Maharaj', made in their combination. Let's see the highlights of this film, which was released today as a Sankranti gift.

Daku Maharaj Movie Story:

Sitaram alias Daku Maharaj (Nandamuri Balakrishna), who is in a Madhya Pradesh jail, learns that Jahnavi, the granddaughter of a tea estate owner in Madanapalle, is in danger. With this, Sitaram, who escaped from the police and came to Madanapalle, changes his name to Nanaji and becomes the child's guardian under the name of a driver. Knowing that Jahnavi's life is in danger from the local MLA, he protects her with a blind eye.

This conflict escalates and a don named Balwant Singh Thakur (Bobby Deol) sets his sights on the child's family. Only then does the enmity between Balwant and Daku come to light. So why did Sitaram become a dacoit? What is his relationship with Papa?.. what is his quarrel with Balwant?.. in the end, did the dacoit win the fight with him? The rest of the story is about that.

Daku Maharaj Movie Analysis:

That is a place. Anarchy reigns there. A big villain.. his gang preys on the people there. Everyone has to salute them. That gang kills everyone they come across and throws them away. While the people there are waiting for the God who will save them, the hero arrives there. As a terrible thing happens before his eyes, his fierce form comes out. The massacre begins. The war with the villain begins. In the end, the hero wins this fight.

This is a very common format in commercial Telugu cinema. As for Nandamuri Balakrishna, I can't count how many films he has done in this line. Directors try to present him in the same stories by changing the background a little. But Balayya's fans... the mass audience doesn't care much about the story of a film. If they want elevations... big action scenes... punchy dialogues... they just say ''Jai Balayya''.

Since the beginning of his career, Bobby, who has been making average mass masala films, has understood Balayya's style... the aspirations of his fans very well and made a film that lived up to their expectations. There is nothing new in this. Bobby and the team have woven an average masala story in the format mentioned above. The elevations... action sequences... mass dialogues... are normal. There is nothing new to say in this film that does not hit the points that Balayya's fans... the mass audience want.

If you look at the films he has been making since the beginning, you can understand that you cannot expect new stories from Bobby. This time too, he has not tried anything different. Otherwise, the usual mass director's take.. all the visuals are done in a sloppy style. In 'Daku Maharaj', Bobby has made sure that a stylish take is added to the mass story. Just by watching the promos of 'Daku Maharaj', the visuals seem different.

As befits the name of the film, Bobby, who has taken the northern background,.. has provided visuals that are different from what is always seen in mass films. He presented the routine action scenes stylishly.. attractively. The cinematography has given the film a new color. Shraddha Srinath.. Pragya Jaiswal's heroines are not presented in the style of average commercial films.. They are not presented as glamorous girls by giving songs and routine dialogues to those characters. Leaving these aside, the film follows a routine template.

What fans mainly expect from mass hero films are elevation scenes. 'Daku Maharaj' has no problem with them. It feels like they wrote five or six elevation scenes first and then wove an average story around them when watching 'Daku Maharaj'. Especially the episode where the hero, enraged by the villain's anarchy, goes to his own house and creates havoc is a highlight in 'Daku..'.

Another episode that comes in the backdrop of a sandstorm also gives Balayya fans goosebumps. Balayya doing such scenes is not new. But no matter how many times you watch it, if there is enough emotion in the scene.. such things will work out again and again. The same thing happened in 'Daku..'. Every action block in the film was shot well. The emotion was worked out well with the key role of the villain in the story.

'Daku Maharaj' seems a little slow in the beginning.. but then the pace picks up. The director drives the story forward based on the emotion between the hero and the villain. Even though it seems too routine.. the flashback episode became the lifeblood of the film. The scenes in which Seetharam's character transforms into a dacoit are very explosive. However, the flashback is good up to a point.. but then it feels too stretched.. It seems like it will end anytime soon.. It has been dragged on for a long time.

The climax that comes after that seems too routine. We will see if there is anything special in the villain role if Bobby Deol of Animal Fame plays it. But it goes like an average villain's role. He has not added anything new to the film. There is no curiosity in terms of the story as the hero is shown to have no face. The dose of glamour that the audience expects from mass films is not enough in this.

Although it is a good thing that both Pragya.. Shraddha are playing performance-oriented roles.. those who expected glamour from them will be disappointed. The attempt to cultivate some romantic juice with Urvashi Rautela's character did not bear much fruit. The song "Dabidi Dibidi" did not have much benefit. Overall, this film has what you want from a mass film from Balayya. Elevation scenes.. 'Daku Maharaj' will satisfy those who like big action scenes. If you want something new, it will be difficult.

Actors Performance:

Nandamuri Balakrishna appeared in 'Daku Maharaj' as his fans... the mass audience would like. His flashback look with a beard reminiscent of the movie 'Nippuravva' is good. The rest of his looks seem ordinary. As usual, Balayya was impressed by the scenes where he had to show his anger. He did well in the emotional scenes too. He was okay in the action scenes. His acting was ordinary in the rest of the scenes. The punchy dialogues from Balayya were not up to the expectations.

Pragya Jaiswal got a chance to act to some extent in this film. She used that opportunity well. We think Shraddha Srinath is another heroine but... there is a twist in her role. That has to be seen on screen. Her performance is also good. Bobby Deol's screen presence in the role of Balwant Singh is good... but due to the lack of novelty in the character, he did not get a chance to make his mark. The little girl did well in the pivotal role in the story. Sachin Khedkar.. Makarand Deshpande.. Ravi Kale.. all of them did well in the supporting roles. There is nothing much to say about Urvashi Rautela.

Technical category:

Taman, who brought poonakalu even when he was a child.. once again excited the audience with his background music. Elevation scenes.. RR moved with good momentum in the action scenes. But in some places, the score feels too loud. The chorus of instruments is too much. His songs feel soso. Vijay Karthik's cinematography is a major highlight of the film. He brought a different look to the film with a different color grading than the average mass films. The visuals are impressive throughout. The cinematography in the action sequences is very good.

The production values are very good. The film has been shot very richly. Bhanu-Nandu's dialogues exploded in some places. The story chosen by Bobby is routine. It seems that.. Chakravarthy's screenplay is not a big deal for that. Bobby focused on the taking rather than the story. He made the key episodes in the film attractive. He made sure that the hero's elevations were not compromised. It seems that he made the film mainly keeping Balayya's fans in mind. He satisfied them but.. he could not do anything new.

Finally: Daku Maharaj.. Balayya Marku Mass

Rating- 2.5 /5
