Zoe Saldaña hopes Marvel doesn't abandon the Guardians of the Galaxy: even if Gamora doesn't return, she hopes it won't be the same for the team.

Zoe Saldaña thinks it would be a "huge loss" for the MCU if the Guardians of the Galaxy never returned: she said she was "in the front row" for the team's return, specifying that, even if she has no intention of continuing to play Gamora, after the events of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, doesn't think the character is gone forever.

I think it would be a huge loss for Marvel if they didn't find a way to bring back Guardians of the Galaxy,” Saldaña told The Playlist's The Discourse podcast. “It's a fan-favorite group of misfits, you know? And then at the helm was a voice like James Gunn's, which is really wonderful and very specific to this genre. And she is also very beautiful in this genre. So, I would be first in the front row to celebrate the return of the Guardians of the Galaxy."

However, that doesn't mean Saldaña will be reprising her role anytime soon. “I mean, for now, I think she's [gone forever] for me, but I don't think Gamora is gone forever,” she said.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 ended with Gamora taking different paths from the rest of the crew – remember that this is a version of Gamora from the past after the “primary” Gamora was killed in Avengers: Infinity War, and then returns thanks to a time travel in Avengers: Endgame. This means that she is not the same Gamora who had an affair with Star-Lord.

We will likely see some Guardians characters again in the upcoming Avengers 5 and Avengers: Secret Wars, although nothing has been confirmed so far but, let's remember, with the multiverse, anything is possible.
